What you see here is three of my vintage Kenner Star Wars playsets. All three share a common theme, they all represent action scenes from the planet Tatooine. They also share another common theme, the manipulation of droids. Below is a synopsis of all three playsets:

Left: This is Jabba's Dungeon, which originally came out in 1983 and I received from my buddy Cal in the early 90's. In the dungeon the evil droid EV-9D9 and her assistants torture those droids that have fallen out of favor with Jabba the Hutt. The scene depicted shows Boushh (standing in for a Gamorrean Guard) bringing C-3P0 & R2-D2 to EV-9D9. You can also see a vintage 8D8 using a POTF2's 8D8 torture device to ruin the existence of a Power Droid. A 2-1B unit hangs from the crane as it failed in its job of translator for the Hutt's court. Other points of interest include a slab of carbonite hanging in the back of the dungeon and a skiff guard in a single person sail skiff waiting for departure.

Center: The Land of the Jawas is the name for this middle playset. Originally released in 1979, I got this playset off of Ebay back in 98. It's cardboard background is a Sandcrawler which has arrived on Owen Lars' moisture farm so the Jawas can sell off droids they have scavenged. Here Owen bargains with a Jawa over C-3P0, while his wife Beru calls out to their nephew Luke Skywalker. Luke watches a Jawa try to subdue R2-D2. More Jawas and droids walk around aimlessly, without purpose.

Right: The 3rd playset is called the Droid Factory. Its a representation of the inside of a Jawa Sandcrawler. In the Droid Factory, Jawas make repairs to broken down droids, or splice parts from different droids together to make a new breed of droid. Here as the Jawas get to work, their Sandcrawler is invaded by Tusken Raiders, the Sand People of Tatooine. The Jawas try to fend off the much larger Sand People using their droids in battle. At the bottom of the playset you can see several droids of interest, including a B'Omarr Monk and the 3-legged R2-D2 that came with the Droid Factory.
