Lando Calrissian from SOTE Comic Book

SOTE Lando

In Shadows of the Empire, Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian infiltrate Imperial Center in search of the missing Leia Organa. During this mission the two Rebels disguise themselves as Imperial troopers to more easily move about the planet once known as Coruscant.

What's different about this figure from my prior SOTE Lando Calrissian is that this custom is based on how Lando was portrayed in the SOTE comic series. In the comic, Lando had donned the gear of an Imperial Stormtrooper. Eventually, Lando sheds the leg armor and waltzes around the sewer system and halls of Prince Xizor's castle wearing just the torso/arms armor of the gear as well as the cargo pants he obviously had under the armor. Of course Lando and Luke save Leia, so the three of them along with Chewie and the droids can go off and save Han in Return of the Jedi.

This custom is a very straightforward figure to make. I used the torso and arms of a Luke Stormtrooper from the "Escape the Death Star" action figure game (on sale at your local Toys R Us for $5, a great deal if you need extra parts/weapons/figure stands) due to the simple reason that the markings on the torso are supposed to imply Luke's swim in the Trash Compactor aboard the original Death Star. If it implies that, it surely can imply Lando's trot thru Coruscant's sewers. The head is a Bespin Lando head with the neck painted black to simulate the turtleneck of the Stormtrooper body glove. For legs I used those of the Dagobah Luke. These legs had its joint broken off a time back so after putting the head/torso/arms together, I had to wind up gluing the legs to the torso and thus loss articulation at the waist. Adding an Imperial Blaster Rifle and Blastech Hand Blaster to give Lando some weaponry, the figure is complete and ready to find her highness in the vile clutches of Xizor.
