Ooryl Qrygg, Rogue 10

        Ooryl Qrygg

A Gand member of Rogue Squadron, Ooryl Qrygg as Rogue 10 is the wingmate of Rogue 9, Corran Horn. Ooryl joined the Rogues during the rebuilding phase of the squadron after the Truce at Bakura and fought with distinction at  Talasea, Coruscant, and Thyferra. Ooryl's unique physiology allows the Gand the ability to survive harsh environments such as space. His exoskeleton provides protection from the vacuum of space, at the same time, Ooryl's type of Gand does not need to breathe for metabolism. For the metabolic ingredients he needs, Ooryl needs only ingest a certain type of matter. However, to speak, Ooryl needs to draw gas through his exoskeleton into a gas bladder. If he needs to speak when piloting, Ooryl keeps a 2-part gas can attached to his flightsuit which sends a non-evasive gas from the lower portion of the can into his flightsuit so he can draw it into his bladder. When he expels the gas, its drawn back into the upper portion of the can for recycling so it may be used again. This allows Ooryl to keep up with communications with his fellow pilots during battle. Ooryl remains a member of Rogue Squadron through and beyond the 2nd Battle of Coruscant.

I've wanted to make this figure for quite sometime and I finally was able to get all the parts to get this one complete. For starters the legs are from Ten Nunb from the Rebel Pilots' Cinema Scene. The right leg was cut at the ankle to remove enough space to attach the bandolier from Arvel Cynryd's (from the same Cinema Scene) leg. The bandolier was attached to the leg and the Nunb foot was attached to the bandolier. The torso is that of the Arvel Cynryd and had its hose cut apart to allow an attachment of the gas can from the head of Zuckuss. This is the assembly I designed for Ooryl's communicative skills during battle. The arms were also from Ten Nunb, but the hands were replaced with those of Zuckuss. The hands were painted black to give the appearance of gloves. The entire flightsuit was painted pumpkin orange to match the flight gear used by the Rogues. Finally, the head comes also from Zuckuss and was sanded down to remove as much of the breathing hood Zuckuss used as possible, since Ooryl needed no such thing. The head was painted with a mix of olive green and gray to give Ooryl the greenish-gray color he is described as having.
