In the much sought after Lost Cut Scenes from A New Hope, Tatooine native Biggs Darklighter visits his friends in the small outpost of Tosche Station after graduating from the Imperial Academy. There he confides with his close friend Luke Skywalker about his plans to defect from the Imperial cruiser, Rand Ecliptic, and join the Rebel Alliance. Though this scene was not added to the Special Edition of ANH, we did get to see some extra footage of Biggs on the Rebel base at Yavin 4, before his untimely demise on the Death Star.
A standard custom amongst many customizers, my Biggs Darklighter was partially inspired by an article in Star Wars Galaxy Collector #3 done by Gary Weaver. The article showing how to customize action figures uses Biggs as an example. For my Biggs I altered the recipe a tad bit, using a Ceremonial Luke as the base just as the article does. While using the article's color scheme for the majority of the figure, dark brown pants, a lighter shade of brown for the boots and gun holster, light gray for the belt, and dark blue and black for the shirt, I went with a light gray for the jacket. After reviewing pictures from the Lost Cut Scenes in an issue of Star Wars Insider, I noticed that the jacket had in my opinion more of a grayer tone to it, than the SWGC's had. For the head instead of using that of Skiff Guard Lando's, I used a Bespin Han's with hair painted black and a mustache painted on, the resemblance becomes uncanny. For a cape I used that of General Lando's painted a flat black. To complete the figure, I painted a red stripe on the left side of the jacket for what I assume is Biggs' academy ranking.
