First...take apart the flight controller. You will only need the sound card, speaker and the wires. Be careful not to lose the little rubber buttons. Now take the entire Hasbro ship apart. With a dremel, grind down the 2 post under the seat. Now drill some holes in the bottom of the ship. These will be for the sound to come out of. Next, use a solder gun to take the wires off of the sound card. This will make it easier to do the next 2 steps. Now, take the speaker and hot glue it over the holes you just driiled into the bottom of the ship.
Now, the sound card will be going into the spot where the batteries went on the vintage TIE fighter. First, grind down everything inside that area until the sound card fits. Then make a rectangular hole for the buttons to show through the body. (see photo) Hot glue the sound card in. For the batteries, I tried to find an r/c car or cordless phone battery to fit inside but nothing would fit or had the correct voltage. What I ended up doing was taping together 3 AAA batteries and soldering the wires onto the contacts. PLEASE KIDS...LET AN ADULT DO THIS FOR YOU!!!!! ANY WRONG MOVE AND THE BATTERY COULD EXPLODE IN YOUR FACE!!!!! I then reattached the wired from the sound card to the speaker and from the card to the batteries and reassembled the ship. As a side note, you may have to grind down many parts of the inside of the ship to get everything to fit right.
