This custom was really fun to make! Actually, I almost made this guy last year, but instead I made Lee Phenets, the maintenence man. I'm glad I waited, because the time is just right for him now!
I didn't want to use Lando, so I opted for Panaka's head. the only problem is that Panaka has no head when you take off his hat...so I had to sculpt on the hair. It looks a little like a helmt, but what can you do?
Then I settled on the parts to use. This is really a "spare parts" custom, because I just picked out parts that I thought would look good and function well. The arms are what really made this custom for me. At first, I was going to use a different pair, but then I found the Ponda Baba arms. These particular arms could hold an object in them if you positioned it just right. I added the articulation by sticking a paperclip inside. Now he can scoop the ice cream!
I also added different hands to him, and I chose the Ki-Adi-Mundi hands because the long sleeves can be used as hand protectors (kind of like gloves). I even added some "frost" to them, as well as the boots, and even his hair. Just to show that this guy spends a lot of time in the freezer!
As for the accessories...the ice cream scoop is just a carbon scrape from Luke, but it curved enough to make a space scooper, so I had to use it. The bucket was a differnet story! It is the top part of a crazy glue sheath. I cut it off the tube, and then just stuck a wad of red Super Flex Sculpey inside it. I scooped out some just so he can hold it. The top is a wheel from a DRAGONHEART set, and it fits perfectly, and gives the container a sci-fi look, just like the reference photo shows. Plus, you can stick the scopper inside the hole at the top when you are not using it! :)
