For this special set of customs, I wanted to try my hand at creating the packaging as well. I haven't done much in this area, but I thought I could do it! I wanted it to fit in with the STAR WARS line, but still be able to stand on its own. So, I came up with a simple design, and went to work!

Since the front of this card is covered with the actual figures, I really only changed the corner image of Leia. I scanned in the cover to UNION #1, and blended it into the card. Then I added the UNION logo as well. I threw the logos on the bottom as a last-miunte addition: Hasbro, Dark Horse, and of course, Curto!!

For the back, I had a specific idea in mind. I wanted to make a kind of evolution of the characters, that showed how they changed over the years. For Mara, I picked images that showed her as the "Emperor's Hand, a smuggler (her first comics appearance), and a Jedi. For Luke, I picked 2 images from the classic Marvel comics, and one from the new Dark Horse ones. And finally, the center image shows the happy couple from UNION #4.

Assembling the images in Photoshop was a lot of fun, especially the back view. Once the sides were completed, I printed them out and glued them onto the card. I had to use the wire ties to tie down the figures so they wouldn't move around when I laid them down on the scanner. I even wrote a brief blurb about it!

And finally, I want to give credit where credit is due. The images used on the package were scans from various comic books (some Marvel, some Dark Horse), as well as from THE STAR WARS ENCYCLOPEDIA. The text describing the set was written by me, spelling mistakes and all!
