I am glad I accepted Jason's challenge to make this guy, because he was fun to make! I spent some time trying to figure out what parts to use, and then assembled them. I opted for the Vader limbs because I had a bunch of them lying around, and I like the "body armor" look that it has. I painted on some colors to it and also dirtied it up a bit, so it would be similar to the grand fashions of the TALES OF THE JEDI era, but still have a modern look.
I cut off the braid on Obi-Wan and sculpted on new hair. I changed his hair so that the white scarring extended up there as well. (Maybe it could extend to his entire body, but we don't see that, so nevermind....)
His giant shoulder pads are the bottom sections of Prince Xizor's robe. They are glued directly onto the chest, so they are not removable. The cloth cape is a piece of velour I got from JO-ANN ETC., the scarf is a piece of cloth, and the skirt is from the Bespin Princess Leia from the 2-pack.
His weapons are a Lak Sivrak gun that straps onto his wrist. I have always liked this gun, and I am glad to find a use for it someplace. The "glaive" weapon in his hand is a piece of the staff from Boss Nass, which I repainted and dirtied up. He can throw it or use it as a knife-type of weapon. I just thought it would be cool to add this in. The lightsabers are just a double-bladed lightsaber cut in half. In order to keep them on his back, I made a pair of "scabbards" out of masking tape, and the blades slide in and out of them. In "real life" this would not happen, but it works well for the toys.
For this figure, I played around with the packaging as well. I decided to use the box instead of the card, because it was a simple layout and different from all the cards I had made recently...
I added some texts per jason's request, and paraphrased the description a bit for the bio card. This was pretty easy as far as packaging goes, but I really like the results. I may make another box similar if I can get ahold of another one.
This is the drawing that Jason sent me. It was created by his buddy Matt Perry.
