Each of these figures was pretty simple to make. For the one set, I just boil and popped the heads and switched them. The hats also come off and can be switched as well. These make really good army guys and practically anyone can do it.
For the other pair, they are the latest entry in my Han and Luke Explore the Galaxy! customs series. Again, they are simple head-swaps, but I took them one step further by giving them a weathered look (inspired by Raul's customs!) that really made them stand out. I also holllowed out the hats so that they can wear them!
For this set, I played around with the packaging as well. I have always thought that Kenner/Hasbro should release a set of army builders, so that it would be easier to re-create the wonderful battles in STAR WARS. Well, since that is not likely to ever happen, I thought I'd make my own! (Isn't customizing fun?)
I call this series "BATTLE PACKS," which features 4 figures as a set. I used a BATTLE BAGS card for the size, and changed the graphics and text, and added the logos and new text. Now, you can make your own armies, and get 4 all-new figures, all in one stop!
As always, the back was a lot of fun. I added some reference shots of the army and individual characters, plus I added shots of the other sets in this imaginary line of toys. All of the figures shown are other customs I have made over the years. I won't actually make cards for each one, but you can imagine what the line-up would be like if these figures were ever put into production.
Finally, time to give credit where credit is due. The scans were taken from THE VISUAL DICTIONARY and I believe the STORYBOOK. The rest of the layout was simply copied from the original card, but I tweaked things here and there.
