MANDALORIAN PROTECTOR
Super-soldier from the planet Mandalore hired to battle in the Clone Wars

Way back in the Marvel Comics, it was revelaed that Boba Fett came from the planet Mandalore. This planet had an army of supercommandos that were hired by Palpatine to fight in the Clone Wars. After the battle, Palpatine turned Mandalore into a slave planet, and some of the survivors fought to free the planet from Palpatine's control. Of course, things have changed a bit. But I stilllike the idea of a race of supercommandos, so I decided to make one of my own.

Now THIS was a tricky custom. I decided early on that I wanted to have the arm articulation that Panaka has, plus those armguards were really different,and could hold the rifle in a sniper pose. I carefully cut off the Stormtroopers shoulders and the arms from Panaka. Then I glued them into place,leaving enough room for him to hold the gun. I thought of adding articulation here, but decided against it. I wanted to use the Stormtrooper armor and originally used the back as well. But I decided to keep the jetpack too,so I glued the different pieces together and used Sculpey to fill in the gaps. I could not decide which legs touse fom the parts I had available, but the ones from the Hoth Soldier were the most detailed, although a little too tall. Plus, the pose is very hard for the figure to stand properly,so I have to display him with a Commtech chip from another figure. I chose the color scheme for no real reason. I knew I wanted to use blue and black, and the rest just seemed to fit. The gun actually came like that, so I didn't need to paint it at all.
