JAWA SCOUT MINI-SANDCRAWLER
Short-range scout vehicle for Jawa traders

Jawas are the small traders of Tatooine who collect, trade, buy and sell small part and droids they come across on the planet's surface. They appear in their Sandcrawlers, in the Mos Eisley Cantina, in Jabba's Palace, and pretty much anywhere there are credits to be earned. This vehicle helps the Jawas travel short distances rapidly while they are searching for scrap metal. It can travel short distances much faster than a larger Sandcrawler, but there is not a lot of room for cargo.

For this "mini-rig," I first had to remove the Thing upper body from the vehicle...which was a not an easy task! This toy uses a triangluar screw, and so I had to pry and cut my way around the figure. The plus side of this is that is made a perfect little cockpit for the driver. After I put it back together, I painted it brown, and then added the weathering and dirt...but I think I may have overdone it! Ah well.... I decided to add some kind of tool rack on the inside of this vehicle, so I glued the tools inside the vehicle (see image below). The only droid that fit inside was a little droid from the MicroMachines set, which was small enough to also fit the pilot. Speaking of the pilot, I made this Jawa a few years back, and dug him out when I realized the smallest Jawa that Kenner made was a little too big to fit inside.
