In 1984, I had an old Apple IIe that I got for graduation. It had one of those green monitors and practically no graphics of any kind. I was learning about computers and I thought this was the coolest thing. I started high school in the fall, so I spent part of the summer playing with my new computer.

One of the things I did was write a story about my favorite STAR WARS character, Boba Fett. Like everyone else, I hated that he died in the Sarlacc. I had him escape the Great Pit of Carkoon by using all of his weapons and finally clawing his way to the surface. Fett reached the surface just as Lando was rescued. He was about to go after the skiff, but Jabba's sail barge exploded. The explosion knocked him out, and he laid in the desert for days.

When he awoke, he was in a Tusken Raider camp being nursed back to health by a local shaman. He defeated the head Tusken and led the nomadic group in the Jundland Wastes. Eventually, he regained his memory and went back to Jabba's palace, searching for his ship (which was reclaimed by Fenn Shysa for the Rebellion---but that's another story!) Fett contacted Bossk, and the pair formed a band of bounty hunters (Boba Fett, Bossk, Dengar, IG-88, 4-LOM, Zuckuss, Boushh, and Greedo) that traveled the galaxy. This group often fought the Rebellion, mainly so the rebels wouldn't have to fight Stormtroopers all the time!

Of course, MANY stories have been written about Fett's survival from the Sarlacc. Marvel's comic series had Fett rescued by Jawas living aboard the sandcrawler, only to have the vehicle run right back into the Sarlacc! While I do like the current story where Dengar rescues Fett, I will always think it should have been the Tusken Raiders!

For this custom, I thought it would be cool to combine two of my favorite classic trilogy characters: Boba Fett and Tusken Raiders! This would be how the amnesiac Fett looked while he was running with the Sandpeople on Tatoone. His armor is all damaged from the Sarlacc, and worn down during the time he spent with the Tuskens. Since the Sarlacc's tentacles would have wrapped around his legs, his lower armor would be damaged beyond repair. His backpack and rifle would be similarly lost, and he would scavenge the rest from scrap he came across.

I switched legs with the Tusken to show how he immerses himself in with the group. The skirt from the Bantha Tusken was draped around his neck, but I added holes and stains and such to make him more dirty. I gave him a Gaffi stick from Malakili, and painted his armor to show the damage to it. For the knee pads, I glued on scraps of a plastic cape just to add some stuff to him. I also repositioned his arms a bit so he could hold the Gaffi stick properly.
