This custom was quite a dilemma! I first found the reference photo on the BEHIND THE MAGIC CD, and I was going to make the Gotal pictured there. However, I also found a lot of screen shots that showed him with a beige robe on instead. So which custom should I make? Why not both?
I thought it would be interesting to make Feltipern Trevagg with both his "bounty hunter outfit" and his "cantina robe." I started of course by sculpting the head. Then I began working on the uniform. Since this was going to be a combination of the two outfits, it took my a long time to find the correct parts to use. I finally decided to use pieces from Valorum's skirt, Oorimarrko's cloak, and Amidala's skirt.
I cut the pieces down to fit him better, and glued on his skirt for his bounty hunter outfit. I then cot the cloak so it would only cover the shoulders, and I glued a pipe cleaner to the edges to make the fur shown in the picture. I also had to make the hole bigger so the sculpted head would fit through without damaging it.
While I was searching for photos, I found this cool picture of what seems to be his gun. So, I decided to try making that as well. I trimmed off parts of the Naboo gun, and glued the end of the pike to the gun and then cut it off. It's pretty close!
The worst part was painting him. I had such a difficult time trying to decide on which colors to use and making the colors for him look right. Since he is in deep shadows in the film, and the reference picture is totally different, I deciced to combine the two a bit. I left his shirt the same color of the skirt, so when you put it on it would match. The cloak is also removable, and does not damage the head at all. The miniature I found showed him in just black and grey colors with a bit of brown, so I stuck to that.
