The Marvel Comics series. Ah yes...many are the memories I had of this series as a kid. For many years, especially in the early 80s, it WAS the only way to get STAR WARS. There were no novels (well, a few). There were no video games (Atari? BAH!). "Expanded Universe"? Nope. If you wanted to get into STAR WARS, then the Marvel Comics series was IT!

Yeas, some of the stories were hokey by today's standards, and some of them were poorly drawn. As a kid, I couldn't care less...they were fun to read! The series lasted 107 issues, with 3 annuals, and an assorted number of collections, giant-sized specials, and pocket books that were mostly reprints.

About halfway through the series, some cute-n-cuddly creatures were introduced, and a few more followed. Most of the time, they just stayed as background guys walking around, but other times, they took the center stage. Silly stories to be sure, but to me they will always be part of the whole STAR WARS Universe.

Each character for this set is represented at least twice. The descriptions for each can be found below.

For this set, I played around with the packaging as well. The card itself it a XYBER 9 card. I chose it because the bubble is in the shape of an "M"...for Marvel!

To make this card different from the POTF2 line, I used a lot of comic book elements: The STAR WARS logo (green to reflect the "Classic" trilogy), the UPC symbol, the Marvel logo, and the various corner illustrations that were used in the top left corner throughout the series' run. Now, I don't have ALL the issues, but these are from the ones I own.

The back is always more fun....For this set, I thought I'd include other Marvel Comics customs I have made, as if this was a whole seperate line, similar to the EU line. Valance the Hunter, Kilgson, a Dragon Lord, Rik Duel, Dani, Chihdo, Shira Brie, Kiro, Tobbi Dlaa, Bey, and my favorite Fenn Shysa. Even the recent "Captain Drebble" showed up.

Finally, time to give credit where credit is due. The box was originally a XYBER 9 card. The reference shots come from issue #s 73, 77, and 104. The corner illustrations are from various issues. The "Custom Coalition" logo is a new customs group I just joined!
