The army of the Republic is made of thousands of Clone Troopers. So we need more figures of Clone Troopers! This particular clone lieutenant is based on the cover of Star Wars: Republic #50 (shown below.) I have no idea why he's dressed differently in the comic series. I guess I'll have to wait to get it in order to find out!

Ever since I first saw the cover to this upcoming comic book, I thought this would be a cool custom to make. I can't wait to see the new "Clone Wars" tie-in!

I originally planned to stick with the Clone Trooper body, but since this is an Expanded Universe-style clone, I thought it would be fun to change the armor a bit. Since I was going to use the Sandtrooper for the pauldron anyway, I just kept it. I added articulation to the arms, and I also repositioned the hand on the right arm. now he can hold the gun in the correct arm at least.

But the funn part of this custom was the accessories. I chopped off the pouches of another Sandtrooper figure, repainted them and glued them to the pauldron. The right shoulder pad is actually a Skiff Guard Lando helmet. And the blue "cloak" is a scrap piece of material left over from an old MEGO Superman figure I have had for over 20 years!
