Now this was a fun custom! I originally started out working on the body for this one, but it progressed into much more complicated project.
I wanted to make a Clone Trooper in a shooting position, so I thought of different ways to reposition the figure. I ended up actually cutting the arms off the figure at the biceps and elbows. I superglued the bicep back on, but at a different angle. Then I superglued the rest of the arm back on, again at a different angle. Now he was in the shooting pose I wanted, but I wanted to do more.
I decided that the figure need some added articulation, so I broke off the arms again at the elbow. I drilled a small hole into the biceps and forearms and inserted a paperclip so that it would be held together, yet still be able to swivel back and forth! Then I decided to paint him blue, although I see now that this is the wrong shade, so I'll have to try again next time.
I also wanted him to be in more of a standing position, so I had to work with the legs a bit. First, I cut them off just under the thigh pads right above the kneepads. This gave him an angle that I could just match up and now he stands a little straighter than before. I also wanted to get rid of the dirt on his legs, so I repainted them white. I wiped it down so that it added a bit of a worn look to them.
But I wasn't done yet!! I thought it would be fun to give this figure a removable helmet. I boil-and-popped the head off and gave him a human head. The helmet was hollowed out with a drill and a knife. I actually came through the helmet, which you can see in the first picture below, but that added to the "damage," so I just left it. The head needed a little trimming so the helmet would fit on, but a little black paint covered that up.
