Ralph McQuarrie was the original artist for STAR WARS. He designed the "first look" of many of the charcters we are familiar with now, some of whom had a much different look than they do today. This early version of R2-D2 shows just how versatile this little droid can be. R2-D2 VINTAGE 2-1B (arms) Luke Skywalker (harpoon gun) The easiest of the set. Simply turn him around, because he leans forward in the painting, and paint him a lighter color. I also glued on the arms, cutting and pasting the rear one so that it was at an angle. The top of the figure is the harpoon from Luke's gun. I tried using different pieces, from old model pieces to staples, but this just seemed to fit better.
