LUKE SKYWALKER
Inspired by the artwork of Ralph McQuarrie

Ralph McQuarrie was the original artist for STAR WARS. He designed the "first look" of many of the charcters we are familiar with now, some of whom had a much different look than they do today. This early version of Luke Skywalker seems to be a blend of Luke and Princess Leia. The arms from Devereaux were perfect for the position from the painting, so that seemed the natural choice--I just sculpted on the gloves. One thing I have noticed about using the WING COMMANDER figures, the limbs are REALLY flimsy! When I boil and pop them, they ALWAYS break, no matter how gentle I am. As a result, this Luke does not have articulated arms. I sculpted the shoulder pads, goggles onto the helmet, and I glued on the leftover piece of Hoth Leia's jacket which was leftover from the Pizza Hut Girl custom figure I did this past summer. (See? DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR PIECES!! You never know what you can do with stuff!) The helmet is removable, and the box in the front is attached by 2 wire ties. It doesn't really blend well, but this is one of the figures I want to fix.
