C-3PO
Inspired by the artwork of Ralph McQuarrie

Ralph McQuarrie was the original artist for STAR WARS. He designed the "first look" of many of the charcters we are familiar with now, some of whom had a much different look than they do today. This early version of C-3PO shows a more feminine side to the droid. C-3PO Man, this figure was disappointing. I spent 2 nights sculpting this figure not only so it would slim down, but also still maintain the articulation. I really liked the way it turned out, and then I baked the sculpey.... ...I left him in too long, and his legs "expanded" to like twice the size! The head shifted to the left, and the arms flattend! What a mess!! I decided to go ahead and paint him up anyway, and get some feedback about him. In fact, I have already started a new version, which will blow this one away!
