He started out as a overcooked, slightly melted Luke X-wing figure. Since his body was sort of contorted I wanted to make something that would cover his whole body. While looking at Ketwol I could see he's really delicate with those long horns and trunk so I wanted to make those parts really sturdy. Lukes helmet was already cut off for another custom so there was still a head stub left. First I stuck a wire through the nub and cut and bent it to the basic horn shape. I then cut an arm off of an Independence Day "bendable" alien figure. I cut it to look like a Pacithhip trunk and super glued it on the nub between the wire horns. (Yup his trunk is bendable) I then put A/B epoxy around all that to reinforce and made the actual horns and basic head shape with epoxy as well. Then I pulled out the Super sculpey for all the final face and head details. I used the Decipher card pictured at left as a reference.
After cooking him I made all his clothing and hands with A/B epoxy (a bit at a time) For the hands and body I used different shots of Pacithhip's from EP1. From what I've seen they wear very "poofy" clothes. Also their hands are kind of "boxy" like that. I left the boots alone because they seemed to work pretty well and this sucker took a long time so I wanted to finish it!
In case anyone didn't notice that "Melas" is actually Ketwol backwards. Dan Curto did a version of Melas using my Ketwol and a little help from his computer, see him at left.
